The Junior City Council (JCC) is comprised of scholars from over 20 schools in Nelson Mandela Bay. This leadership opportunity allows for a collaboration between representatives from various schools to align with Rotary goals – to do good in the community.
The name might be misconstrued as a political organisation; however this is not a municipal council affiliated programme – it is a council-style youth programme to teach the skills to self-elected school-goers on how to work together for a greater community goal.
The JCC was initially supervised by the Lions Club but was taken over in 2019. Currently, the Rotary representative for this initiative is Marilyn Woods.
